"Take a moment breathe in baby,' the lilting vocals twisted in the breeze from the top of a hill. The voice was whimsical but the savage twist of a taunt bled into the creatures words. "I wouldn't love you unless you paid me." Gray clouds drifted languidly across the star speckled sky barely eclipsing the glow of the moon overhead.
The verdant foliage surrounding her Tenkou was perfectly at home in another wolfs territory and expressed her lack of regard with bold disrepute. The she-wolf who seemed lost in her own isolated world was swingingin the breeze. Or perhaps the better phrase for her current actions was swinging from the trees. Tenkou was sprawled on her backside; tawny belly exposed to the moonlight and was elevated two or three feet off the ground. What supported her were vines that snaked down from the boughs above her and twined themselves together to create an improvised hammock where she leisurely reclined.
Utterly unperturbed by the sensations her keen senses registered she continued muttering to herself in blissful negligence. "Give me a chance to make it right." She spoke tunefully to herself, her dainty paws fidgeting with something that she held to her stomach. The item was perfectly round save for the wet claw marks she left behind and was pale yellow, otherwise known as a melon.
Tenkou's lips twisted into a wry grin which had a meaning for only her. She giggled to herself as she glanced up at the moon as the wind shifted the clouds. Slanted phosphorescent orange eyes blinked beneath her eyelids that were seemingly half open. Her angular face pointed skyward as she inhaled the breeze and shifted in her hammock restlessly.
Her fur mostly contained shades between auburn and brown with a few patches of fawn fur sprouting here or there. The main consistency of which was a smooth glossy ocher overtone, that as it descended darkened and lightened in select areas. Her fur was considerably longer then the typical wolf because her breed was christened the Manned Wolf, a gangly reddish wolf with a tapered snout and resembled more a fox then a wolf. The fur from her elbows to her paws deepened to an brown near black pigment which was very similar to the color of her ears and hind legs. Pale golden fur outlined her pectoral muscles and shoulders that are well shaped against her lithe structure.Bushy tail swept to the side and swayed gently with her rocking motion, barely dusting the grassy floor with its tip.
Her thoughts were erratic, much like her behavior but as she glared down at the occupied land she could not help but wish for something a little more...Stable. Not that Tenkou had ever known stability but there was a first time for everything, right? A frown crawled over her once contented grin and the she-wolf shifted again until she was flat on her belly, her forepaws dangling over the vines supporting her. Frown perhaps wasn't the correct word, Tenkou pouted. Brows knotting together at the center of her head and this exposed the thick mane of black fur that fell across her neckline. A few stray strands falling just over her face as she tilted her head to the side, expression pensive. She like her noncommital lifestyle but it was always better to share her misery with the world. With that decided Tenkou liftered her head and voiced her thoughts for whoever called this their home to answer her.
And it was not a request. It was a demand.
"Cause one of us will die tonight."

It felt good to be out this late. The winds were almost always calm at night. Well, nights where there was no storm. Thanatos stood, still as a statue, over looking his home. The wolf was huge. A fairly thin summer coat covered his well fed and muscular frame. He had been a pack wolf his entire life. Never once had he had to live the disgusting life of a loner. And, he never would. The brute was proud of his heritage. Being the son of two of the strongest wolves in the history of the isle had it's advantages.
Well, being the only son that mattered. He did have a brother: Danger. The very thought of that dirtbag made his throat itch with the bile from his stomach. For the life of him, Thanatos didn't know why he didn't kill him when he had the chance. Because he's still my brother... he thought in disgust. That was what made the two brothers different. Thanatos couldn't kill without just reason. He was fair and true. His brother was worse than the devil himself. Well, that was Thanatos's thoughts anyway. Nothing compared to the hatred between them.
Suddenly, the king's thoughts were pulled away from his brother and his dreadful pack of outcasts as a lonely howl split the night. He had known about the dame within his lands for some time now. Had watched from afar. There was a reason he had never been challenged as the alpha of the Decessus Pack. He sighed. The last thing the male wanted to do was deal with a dispicable loner. His gaze sent daggers in the direction of the sound.
He decided to make her wait a few minutes as he took the long way to the stranger. Thanatos was not to be summoned like a puppy by any wolf. The moon was high in the sky when he finally walked into view. Brow raised as he looked at the dame before him. It was an odd sight. Firstly, she looked more like a cross between a lion and a fox than she did a wolf. Yet, her scent said canine. Secondly, she was hanging in a tree. Thanatos took a long look. It was a long moment before he spoke.
"Is there a good reason that you are within my lands without express permission from myself?" His words dripped like venom off his muzzle. There was only one thing he hated almost as much as his brother and Desfir: the scent of a loner. It attacked his passages like nothing else. The last thing he wanted on a calm peaceful night was to be disturbed. Since, the 'calm and peaceful' had just left the list of descriptions for tonight, Thanatos was not going to be in the best of moods. He wanted an answer, and he wanted it now.

The once vibrant Summer skies had bled into a deep, and somehow comforting indigo as twilight smoothed away the last ounces of noon colors. A few fluffy clouds lazily drifted across the transforming skies, disappearing on the horizon with the soft breezes that caressed the earth. The surrounding stand of trees rose from the ground, towering over the loam and becoming the most noticeable part of the landscape. Their shadows, elongated by the moons faint light, melded with the grasses. They were a mixture of trees; oak and elm, pine and ash, birch and cedar. The perfect resting place for Tenkou who had succumbed the her lethargy in a comical fashion.
Tenkou didn't shift in sleep- she sagged like something dead. Swinging entangled in the veins it looked more like someone had hung her there than the female actually clambering among them of her own accord. Her slumber simply continued, trapped by some dream among her bed of twining foliage. But it wasn't long before she roused, the dream becoming boring and leaving her susceptible to disturbances. Indeed, something had startled her right out of her sweet dreams. But what? Tenkou peered blearily, not quite willing to get up and move. So far, she wasn't able to spot anything. That was perfectly fine with her if the wolf of the territory didn't show up til morning. She'd adore going back to sleep to dreaming about her tricks and the distant caress of the vegetation. But now she was awake and groggy at that.
Tenkou frowned, shuffling her stiff limbs irritably. It'd be hard to go back to sleep, hard to surrender again. Dawn must be hours away, and she wasn't sure if she'd make it out of the her grassy threads without wanting to cause trouble. It wasn't that she was natural born troublemaker, she was just able to attract too much attention for her own good. So absorbed in being looked at every moment, she often missed the most crucial changes. Like anger.
But she apparently wouldn't need to fight herself for sleep - No some late-night adventurer had just appeared and was stalking toward her. How exactly did the red female know this? Because the wolf, that was male from what testosterone lingering on the foliage she brushed against, had unwittingly tromped onto the grassy areas that allowed Tenkou to feel the sloshing liquid in hs veins. It would definitely be a gamble to risk being found in such a compromising situation, her nestled among the leaves like some bandit. But then again it had been what she'd anticipated wasn't it?
At odds with herself the gangly female moved her right paw away from her left, rolling onto her belly just enough to give her some semblance of balance and composure. For a moment her eyes could not make sense of what she was observing, causing her to squint and curse her diminishing sight. When the blur focused into a discernable entity she grinned to herself, noting he was all bussiness. The audacious Queen didn't so much as budge as she looked down from her perch at the reigning male.
"Not one that I feel comfotable saying to your face." she said in a voice that lacked all forms of modesty. The wolf's tail swayed gentle in a breeze that didn't exist as she watched him. "I suppose I should start apologizing now?" she smirked flippantly as she wriggled out of the snare of veins until her paws once more found solid earth. It was almost an awkward feeling this pull of gravity. "I'm sorry for my transgressions against your authory, just having myself a good ol' time."

Thanatos had to work not to laugh at her. Her antics were by far the most amusing thing he'd seen in days. She was hanging from a tree and apeared to have a little bit of trouble getting down. Thanatos was mildly suprised as she found her way to the ground. Bottom line, it was funny to watch. He couldn't help but applaud by dipping his head. In no way was it an act of submission. He was merely commending her actions. There for a moment he had almost offered to help.
Not to my face... he smiled. "I must commend upon your wisdom." He blinked. This was definitely the type of behavior he knew how to deal with. There are usually only three kinds of loners. The first kind, who are seen more often than not, are generally very hostile and demand passage. The second, far more rare, were those that begged to be accepted. Thanatos actually prefered that type of wolf. And then there was the third kind. The king had only seen them once in his life.
Well, now he'd seen twice. He knew how to deal with a wench who wanted to fuck with his head. "Oh, an apology isn't necissary, my dear." A smile lit his face. He was kind at heart, but he'd never show it. "As for enjoying yourself..." His maw opened and he pulled the scents of the world over his tongue and into his nares. "The herd of mule deer is that way," -- he pointed with his tail -- "but I'm sure I could help you have a good time."
He chuckled. He figured she was either going to look at him like he was crazy or she was going to stalk off. Well, there was a chance she'd do both, as well. "Hmm...I'm not in the best of moods, but I don't particularly want to have one of my brother's battles to the death. So let's skip the small talk, and you come along so that we can get food into you." Yes, Thanatos really was that confident. "Or...you can turn and leave my terrain. It's your choice. I guess, if you really want that is, you can look around for something small to eat. I highly doubt you can bring down large game. But, if you did that, I'd still expect you to leave eventually. Save us both the headache..." With that said, the king turned and walked away.

His statements tickled her immensely, humor among Alphas was a trait grown scarce with suspicion. She let her laughter have its way before she pushed the swells of mirth aside to speak but even then it still rang in her words."Good Sir, God couldn't help me! I highly doubt you can." she chimed with her head thrown back and tapered muzzle broadened with her grin.
He talked some more and Tenkou nodded appropiately - or at least she hoped she was cause she'd started tuning him out just a bit. Catching snippets here and there you know? By the time she'd realized he'd finished their conversation he was turning away from her. that's it? A frown returned to her visage and she wrinkled her nose unpleasantly. "Well that was borning..." she muttered with clear disappointment.
Tenkou looked at Thanatos and then at the floor as if genuinely puzzled by the offer she'd been given and unsure of how to go about answering it. In earnest she was just calculating how she could get to her ultimate goal of overthrowing an alpha and crowning herself as ruler. There was just so much to be accounted for. How to sever whatever bond the alpha female held with her pack members, or better, to instigate something to secure her worth. The difficulty was that in order to do such a thing she would have to win them over and therefore be as cordial as possible.
Needless to say Tenkou did not have a winning personality but she played the part when necessary. "Well, seeing as you asked me so nicely. I'm tired of mice anyhow and a place to stay that's legit is always a welcome sight." she purred with a roll of her eyes before she fell into step behind him. The majority of her statment was true, she just left out the part that she was going for hostile take over instead of pacifying resident.
"And for the record I don't get any bigger than this. Don't even try putting something bigger than my hips in front of me unless you're eating it."
